disclosure: this is my interpretation based on some observations, please forgive me if this offends anyone, I am not writing this with any intention of harming anyone, or altering anyone’s current worldview. these are simply my postulations, and you are welcome to enjoy it as you like.
apparently when Christ exclaimed “Oh God, Oh God, Why have you forsaken me…” – He was reciting the entire 22nd Psalm at the time of His crucifixion. it is very possible that when quoting from Holy text, they would write the beginning phrases of the thing they were quoting… in the Bible they don’t go on to write the entire psalm which is quite long but just write that first sentence (as mentioned above) possibly to intend that Christ was indeed reciting the entirety of it. perhaps back then this psalm was so well known that they didn’t need to explain that…
Psalm 22 NKJV – this psalm’s first line is “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?…”
part of the subtitle for this psalm is “The Suffering, Praise, and Posterity of the Messiah”
it would make sense that the Messiah in question – Christ -would be reciting the very psalm written about Him, especially given that the context of the psalm regards what He did and what would prophesy to come to pass as per the Psalm.
the following is the reading of the place in the Bible (verse 34) where it shows Christ is reciting it and where it gets confusing that he only states that He is being forsaken… this is confusing because if he were truly God he would not show fear or surrender, or doubt… it is not like His character.
Mark 15:22-25, 33-41 (Gospel)
22
And they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull.
23
Then they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He did not take it.
24
And when they crucified Him, they divided His garments, casting lots for them to determine what every man should take.
25
Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him.
33
Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34
And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
35
Some of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, “Look, He is calling for Elijah!”
36
Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink, saying, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down.”
37
And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.
38
Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
39
So when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, “Truly this Man was the Son of God!”
40
There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome,
41
who also followed Him and ministered to Him when He was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.
if the centurion here were so inspired to say “Truly this Man is the Son of God” – put him in the shoes again of hearing the entire psalm (the psalm is below) and it makes sense that the centurion sees the Man before him of whom the Psalm is written about which He is reciting yet the psalm was written so long ago… therefore to behold the man in front of him who has done everything that the psalm is written about only allows the the centurion to see the logic that this man must be Holy.
the psalms were written by King David…
Here is the whole Psalm 22 NKJV version

Psalm 22
New King James Version
The Suffering, Praise, and Posterity of the Messiah
To the Chief Musician. Set to [a]“The Deer of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David.
22
My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?
Why are You so far from helping Me,
And from the words of My groaning?
2
O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear;
And in the night season, and am not silent.
3
But You are holy,
Enthroned in the praises of Israel.
4
Our fathers trusted in You;
They trusted, and You delivered them.
5
They cried to You, and were delivered;
They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.
6
But I am a worm, and no man;
A reproach of men, and despised by the people.
7
All those who see Me ridicule Me;
They [b]shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8
“He [c]trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him;
Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”
9
But You are He who took Me out of the womb;
You made Me trust while on My mother’s breasts.
10
I was cast upon You from birth.
From My mother’s womb
You have been My God.
11
Be not far from Me,
For trouble is near;
For there is none to help.
12
Many bulls have surrounded Me;
Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me.
13
They [d]gape at Me with their mouths,
Like a raging and roaring lion.
14
I am poured out like water,
And all My bones are out of joint;
My heart is like wax;
It has melted [e]within Me.
15
My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And My tongue clings to My jaws;
You have brought Me to the dust of death.
16
For dogs have surrounded Me;
The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
They[f] pierced My hands and My feet;
17
I can count all My bones.
They look and stare at Me.
18
They divide My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.
19
But You, O Lord, do not be far from Me;
O My Strength, hasten to help Me!
20
Deliver Me from the sword,
My[g] precious life from the power of the dog.
21
Save Me from the lion’s mouth
And from the horns of the wild oxen!
You have answered Me.
22
I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
23
You who fear the Lord, praise Him!
All you [h]descendants of Jacob, glorify Him,
And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!
24
For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Nor has He hidden His face from Him;
But when He cried to Him, He heard.
25
My praise shall be of You in the great assembly;
I will pay My vows before those who fear Him.
26
The poor shall eat and be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will praise the Lord.
Let your heart live forever!
27
All the ends of the world
Shall remember and turn to the Lord,
And all the families of the [i]nations
Shall worship before [j]You.
28
For the kingdom is the Lord’s,
And He rules over the nations.
29
All the prosperous of the earth
Shall eat and worship;
All those who go down to [k]the dust
Shall bow before Him,
Even he who cannot keep himself alive.
30
A posterity shall serve Him.
It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation,
31
They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born,
That He has done this.
